Easy miles with my friend Jamie, she is trying to BQ at Disney next week with a 3:40.  My legs were tired ... that makes 63 miles in last 5 days for me.

On a humbling note, I was following the All Through the Years timed event this weekend, 24, 48 & 72 hour options.  Crocket from FRB came in 2nd in the 48 hr with 179 miles!  A friend of mine from here in Atlanta won the 72 hour race completing an insane 280 miles!  Completing 133 in the first day!!  Ultrarunners are a different breed!!!

Wow - nice mileage. How is the body holding up?

I don't think I have the mental toughness to be an ultra runner.

Wow, I think that was my December total and he did it in 3 days!

63 miles in 5 days is amazing to me! Those ultra guys must be born with superhuman bodies. All I think of when I see all of the miles they run is how are they not injured?

I hope your friend BQs next week!

Haha! I just read Crockett's blog. He is in pain! Good to know that he is human.

Following someone else running 280 miles in 3 days made me so tired I decided to take a few days off. Will keep it light all week as I am running a 50k Sunday.

From I Just Run on Thu, Jan 05, 2012 at 12:32:39 from 67.79.11.242

Hey JG, Hope things are good for your 50K this weekend. It sounds like fun but I'm glad I'm not running it :-)

From Dan on Thu, Jan 05, 2012 at 22:30:21 from 24.209.83.20

Hey thoughts are there with you on that 50k, would love to join you, but well....

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 05, 2012 at 23:40:06 from 71.219.84.120

OH! A 50k, fun stuff!!! Best of luck to you.

I forgot about the 24/48/72 hour race this year, but I watched it last year and it was truly exhausting!

From flatlander on Fri, Jan 06, 2012 at 00:37:45 from 210.71.190.43

Good luck this weekend.

From JG on Tue, Jan 10, 2012 at 13:44:37 from 71.59.27.33

Thanks all, the experts tell me a slow run is great for recovery ... it felt pretty good, but I plan to keep it pretty light all week ... at least until I can walk down steps looking like a normal person!

This was the conclusion of 10 weeks building base mileage more consistently than I ever have. Now it is time to work on speed ... not sure I know which I dread more ... the thought of running 34 miles on a trail or running sub 6 miles on a track!

Hoping I kick A @ Boston & exceed my goal, so I can get back to my long term goal of running because it is fun!
