Six weeks after completing the Erie Marathon, with only a handful of training runs totaling 26.9 miles, I logged my first October miles.  While I had decided I was not going to run this race, the weather was too nice to not drive 475 miles to pick up my t-shirt & medal.

I hit 13.1 miles in exactly 2 hours, the downhill section of the course, and then transitioned to a leisurely walk/trot along the river to the finish.  Blessed to complete another 26.2 in the NC National Forest.

I was also running to celebrate an invitation I received on Thirsday, to run Boston '16 with Team in Training, to raise money to help find a cure for Blood Cancer ... a cause that runs through my veins!

Congratulations on a great day. Maybe I'll see you at Boston next year.

Thanks guys, I am glad I made the last minute decision to run, it was perfect weather and a beautiful drive & course. However, I do not recommend running a downhill marathon on no training! :) Hopefully in another day or two, steps will become a little easier to navigate!

I am thrilled to to have received an invitation to Boston, it will be nice to have 6 months to prepare, instead of 2 ... and so the journey begins this weekend.

Wow, you ran it! Congrats on many accounts, especially the Team in Training. Really inspirational, John.
